Final Touch: Navy Now
We don’t want to say it, but we will, navy blue is the new black. It’s masculine, polished, and classic, kind of like Chris Hemsworth who was just named People’s Sexiest Man Alive. We saw it on runways in Europe and New York, and in pretty much every street style shot out there. Not only that, but a lot of guys are doing navy on navy on navy. It may set off your Smurf alarm, but trust us, it’s one of the simplest way to get dressed.
Today is International Men’s Day— the perfect opportunity to try this new combo. Let’s start at the bottom. Marc Cohn wouldn’t have sang about blue suede shoes (“put on my blue suede shoes, and I boarded the plane) if they weren’t worth a tune, right? Exactly. We’re not 100% sure what his looked like, but we’re pretty certain they were killer. Think about it, everybody else is going to be wearing black or brown, and while we love both those colors in suede, leather, or canvas, sometimes you need something a little extra (a pair of Jerrie loafers).
If you’re not doing the head-to-toe thing (you can!) then we suggest layering in all kinds of grey with your dark jeans or navy chinos (and of course, your blue shoes). If black and white are the perfect duo, then navy and grey are their equally perfect cousins. It’s not too high contrast, but looks just as sharp. You can still feel free to weave in some of that dark blue with your accessories for an added punch—a great bag will pull everything together.
Mens, you’re in the navy now.
