Final Touch: Rock the Pop Sole
The simplest way to showcase your swagger this season is by rocking one of the biggest (and brightest) men’s footwear trends of spring 2014 – the pop sole. Once the most understated and inconspicuous part of a man’s shoe, the sole is now making like a chameleon to a pack of Skittles on everything from Oxfords, to loafers and desert boots.
To rock the unexpected kick of colour in style, invest in a pair of classic derbys, like the Merovech. The turquoise sole with royal blue detailing gives the everyday work-to-play grey shoe an urban twist.
To make sure your lace-ups remain the true stars of your look, don dark denim skinny jeans to offset the bright soles and invest in socks that match the upper part of the shoe – to keep colour contrasts at a minimum. Opt for an on trend short-sleeve dress shirt with over-sized blue stripes from the same colour family as the sole but in noticeably less vibrant shades to keep your shoes in the limelight. Top it all off with a dark cap with minimal detail, like the black-and-grey Patiny.
