Final Touch: SO Jelly
Like crop tops, ultra round sunnies, plaid shirts tied around our waists, and basically anything Brenda, Donna & Kelly rocked – poof! – the jelly sandal has oh-so-fantastically re-emerged. Sweet. Fashion, references and even expressions from the ‘90s have made a full-on comeback, and we’re “bout it” (whether we have an East or West Coast rap allegiance).
In honour of the jelly’s return, we had to shout-out to International Jelly-Filled Doughnut Day, which is celebrated on June 8th this year (the phat follow-up to today’s holiday, National Doughnut Day). As a tribute to one of our fave jelly-filled treats, make like one of the most iconic 1990s heroes and chief doughnut lover extraordinaire, Homer Simpson, and indulge.
So… back to the jellies that go on your feet. Spotted on the likes of Diane Kruger, Anne Hathaway, Perrie Edwards, Azealia Banks and quintessential Cali girls Kourtney Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, this hella delish footwear trend is tinged with an undeniable edge.
Whether you opt for the classic ankle strap sparkly jelly or any other flat style, jellies pull it all together thanks to their subtle nostalgic charm and versatility. Add a see-through accessory like an icy necklace for when you want to skew more glam, or dial up the edginess even more with stackable silver rings, a white watch and a denim vest to add that hint of rebellion.
Whether you’re taking your jellies to the beach or the streets, you’ll be sure to make your friends all kinds of #jelly.
