Gent’s Club: Wallgren
Proof that too much of a good thing is a contradiction in terms, this brown leather lace-up takes the classic form of the derby shoe and stretches it into boot form. Originally conceived as a country item in the 1850s, best used for hunting and sports, the derby had become appropriate city footwear by the turn of the 20th century, probably because of its amazing comfort. The sturdy construction and cushy rubber sole of the brandy-brown leather Wallgren boot makes it no exception to the rule, and as Jude Law has demonstrated time and time again, today’s derby boot couldn’t be more urban. Wear it with cuffed denim or, even better, dress pants so narrow they bunch up at the ankle to reveal the boot’s upper. Because something this good deserves a little showing off.
