PARTY CENTRAL: WARIS LOVES YOU FIGHTS WITH ALDO
How do you measure a year in the life? According to the hit Broadway rock musical Rent, the answer is love. So, like the musical, we set out to New York City’s East Village to fight for our cause and, we fought with love—more specifically, with WARIS LOVES YOU.
We’ve been committed to the fight against AIDS since 1985. That’s why this year, we teamed up with Waris Ahluwalia, designer and CEO of House of Waris and Waris Loves You, to create friendship bracelets adorned with gold arrows to symbolize truth, justice and movement forward. And where better than the Standard Hotel East Village’s underground venue Chez André to kick-off our #FriendsFight campaign? Nowhere, that’s where.
And on that polar-artic night of January 22, a night worth questioning one’s sanity for leaving warm covers, many of our friends and supporters joined us in our friendly fight, like jewellery designer Pamela Love, Leigh Lezark from The Misshapes, Rachael Wang from Nylon, and Miguel Enamorado from Interview, just to name a few.
NYC DJ, Justin Miller, kept the party going as guests play-fought for a turn at our gif photo booth (sneak-through gallery below). The night culminated with an exclusive and intimate performance by Wild Belle. Every single fashion-soul swayed those friendship-bracelet ridden wrists – an inevitable occurrence resulting when Douglas Bensadoun (Creative Director and Vice President of Marketing for ALDO) and Waris Ahluwalia give you a friendship bracelet.
