TOE –TO –TOE: BURGUNDY BOOTIES
Footwear fanatics, rejoice. Ever zoom-in on a stunning pair (cue halo and godly chants), and ask yourself. “How am I going to pull those off?” Lucky for you, we’re one step ahead. We’ll be showcasing two Head Office Style Mavens twinsing out the same pair, yet styled to their own personal perfection. Here they go, toe-to-toe.
The contender: FLOKARL
Marla Garderis, Marketing Manager
This marketing guru knows a thing or two about branding herself. Whether street chic or corporate prep, the dance aficionado busts outfit moves infused with urban flavour only she can pull off.
Garderis keeps her looks casual cool; especially lately with a neutral Fall palette. “These shoes make me feel London-esque,” says Garderis. “They transition perfectly – so I added a military jacket and threw on chunky gold accessories for edge.” That’s so Rhythm Nation of her.
WAKE UP CALL
Usually, the song she listens to after she wakes up will dictate her outfit. “I’m into Drake’s ‘Hold on, We’re Going Home’, so I’d wear these again with leather tights and a boxy sweatshirt.”
“I love to dress up in different ways, but I usually rather wear heels. This pair caught my eye because the color was way-fab, especially for Fall. They’re easy to dress up and down, and the pony hair gives a nice contrast to your typical boot,” says Garderis. There she goes, adding her urban flair again. Just when you thought it didn’t, the world makes sense again.
Katrina Mauricio, Visual Presentation specialist
Working in Visual Presentation, Mauricio knows a thing or two about making things look amazing. Although a perfectionist in that sense, the low-key sweetheart takes on a no-fuss approach. “If I wear a dress, I pair it with an edgier boot to make it less girly,” says Mauricio, as she sweeps her perfectly yet imperfect messy hair.
Naturally, the subtle style-setter doesn’t need to look far for inspiration: it just comes to her. “It was easy [this time]; I always wear black. I wore a shirt that looks plain, but the cut-outs make it edgy. My simple black waxed jeans with zippers still look simple but have style bonus. But the oxblood booties add softness to my [otherwise simple] rough look,” says Mauricio.
“I’d wear these next with jeans and a t-shirt half-tucked in,” says Mauricio. “It’s casual, on-trend, and it just works. The color lightens the outfit up, and the silhouette [of the boot] is a staple every girl should have.” No fuss, no muss.
