pin it Top 5: Jay Strut

Marc Jacobs is presenting his collection at New York Fashion Week? Toronto-born blogger-extraordinaire Jay Strut gets a personal preview. From mansion parties with Elie Saab to Google hangouts with Donatella Versace, the saying “make your dreams a reality” barely describes the hard work Jay Strut has put in to become one of the most popular and well-respected bloggers around. We managed to bring our fave A-List co-host firecracker down from the clouds for a quick interview backstage at Toronto Fashion Week. Yet, no matter how eclectic he is, when Jay sits down for business, he means business.

You hustled to become a blogger and set the standard for blog-hopefuls out there. Why do you think your fans care so much about what you have to say?

I know who I am. I keep things authentic and never compromise my work for anything or any dollar. What you see if what you get; I’m real. I promised myself to always do things my way. If [the request] doesn’t feel authentic to me, I wouldn’t be able to do it keep it 100 – and that’s not an option.

What do you think makes a blogger worth following?

Interesting bloggers are those who are true to themselves, and who don’t try to be anyone they’re not. It’s tough being your truest self in the digital world; people can just tell when you’re not.

You’ve had a dream list of accomplishments. What are some of your most recent (albeit, impressive) moments?

I’ve been really lucky to create and produce social content experiences for Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Hugo Boss and ALDO, obviously, and the launch of Donatella’s Versus collection.

You’re dominating the blogosphere. What are your plans to expand the Jay Strut empire?

I hope to hire team members in 2014, but also to continue expanding my brand and create awesome content.

With friends in such high fashion places (ahem Riccardi Tisci), it would be wise to take fashion cues fromour fave fierce and fabulous blogger-lover Jay Strut.
