Coachella 2015, the most anticipated outdoor music festival in the world, kicks off April 10. Here’s what to wear when taking in your favourite acts.

’90s Kid — Coachella’s always made a name for itself on the festival scene by featuring some of the most iconic bands from the past, and there’s always something for the self-proclaimed ’90s kid, especially in this year’s lineup. Wear your nostalgia for the grunge era on your sleeve — or better still, tie it around your waist in the form of a flannel shirt (for those chillier California April evenings). Opt for a tartan-inspired sundress layered over a T-shirt for maximum throwback style points – the perfect ensemble for kickin’ it to Canadian grunge band, Sloan. Make your way from stage to stage in style – catching not-to-be-missed performances by Scottish indie-pop Belle & Sebastian, former Rilo Kiley frontwoman Jenny Lewis, and Wu-Tang legends Raekwon and Ghostface Killah – rocking a clear tote, rose gold sunnies, and retro low top white sneakers. Go on, get ‘em a little dirty – that’s what the ’90s were all about.

Space Rocker — You’d think Coachella were a jam-packed fitness bootcamp the way the Space Rocker brings her A-game to the makeshift grass dancefloor at the outdoor music festival. It’s all about sporting breathable clothes and chic yet comfortable accessories – like knee-length shorts, crop tops, and white platform slide sandals – that let you boogie down to The Weeknd, Azealia Banks, Stromae, The War on Drugs, Jamie xx, and Caribou without cramping your groove. Opt for silver ring stacks in lieu of long necklaces for maximum movability. Hey, you didn’t learn to dance via a YouTube tutorial to save that move for later. Add a rocker chic vibe to your look with round sunnies and an easy-to-wear-without-a-care metallic backpack (with all the dancing in the sun, you’ve gotta keep your sunscreen and bottled water on you somewhere).

Wild Child — Like the perfect mash-up of a ’60s flower child and a Studio 54 era club kid, the wild child is equal parts bohemian and eccentric — happy to chill on the grass while taking in Marina and the Diamonds and Kasabian, but instantly ready to body surf the moshpit when the Coachella crowds get revved up for everyone from FKA Twigs and Drake to Jack White and AC/DC. Any self-respecting wild child knows the secret to rocking a leopard-inspired skirt is to up the drama by pairing it with leopard ankle booties and matching sunnies with – and this is key – booty shorts underneath (how else will you do cartwheels on a whim?). Top off the look with a black clutch with gold stuff for when West Hollywood after-hour parties eventually call.
